The King James Version of Proverb 29:18 reads; "where there is no vision, the people perish." Although the New International Version translation is somewhat different, the impact is equally powerful: "Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint." Unless God’s people have a clear understanding of where they are headed, the probability of a successful journey is severely limited. Unless you attend to His call upon your life and ministry, you are likely to experience confusion, weariness, dissipation and impotence. The purpose of vision is to create the future. The future is not something that just happens; it is a reality that is created by those strong enough to exert control over their environment.
