What happened between indiana jones and marian?

In the film, Marion claims that she was a girl during the affair, and Indiana doesn't deny it. This aspect of the Indiana Jones character was never a big part of the series, but it's still a spooky subplot in the show's past. Not only did he leave Marion when she was in love with him, he did it when he was a teenager and much older. This doesn't make the dynamic interesting, it makes him a villain in his own story.
